Are You Taking These Common Summer Illnesses Seriously?

are-you-taking-these-common-summer-illnesses-seriously

Most of us associate cold weather more than hot weather with getting sick. Colds, inflamed sinuses, fever, and other respiratory conditions— all these are tied to cold weather, but this is not accurate.

As you have already noticed, you can get flu and flu-like symptoms whatever time of the year. This is because the weather is not directly responsible for making you sick. Certain temperatures just make it convenient for colds to spread more efficiently.

Rhinoviruses, in particular, the virus responsible for more than half of all colds every year, have been seen to replicate more efficiently at colder temperatures. On the other hand, enteroviruses, the main culprit for summer colds, thrive in warm weather.

Thus, this means that during summertime, you still have to treat getting sick seriously like you would during the cold months.

This is just one example, but as a provider of urgent care in Cleveland, Ohio, we at Cleveland Urgent Care say it is crucial for us to reiterate the importance of this and not believing in what is deemed to be ‘common sense’ or what seems to be ‘comfortable’ information.

With that in mind, here are the common illnesses that we usually respond to in our primary care in Ohio that you should look out for during the summer season:

  • Dehydration
  • Extreme heat
  • Summer Flu and Colds
  • Sore Throat
  • Allergies
  • Animal and/or insect bites, stings, and scratches
  • And more

Aside from these disease-specific emergencies, we also offer digital X-rays, family care services, laboratory services, immunizations, weight management, women’s health, and more. Get in touch with us today.
